Meteorology - Radiation

This page contains detailed information for the meteorology radiation component.

On this page:

Description

Solar radiation plays a significant role in hydrologic cycle and water quality. Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) has direct effect on plant growth. Earth’s energy balance depends largely on the long wave solar radiation which effects weather. Surface water quality is directly affected by short wave and PAR spectra of solar radiation. Ultraviolet radiation effects fate of many contaminants such as microbes and some chemicals. PAR spectrum affects transformation rates of many contaminates.

Output Parameters

Attributes of the HMS radiation output object
ColumnDataTypeDescription
datasetStringPrimary dataset of the requested timeseries. Some API calls return more than one dataset, either for a workflow API or other relevent dataset.
dataSourceStringPrimary source of the requested timeseries.
metaDataDictionaryMetadata for the output timeseries, includes metadata from the source as well as HMS metadata.
dataDictionaryOutput timeseries data is returned as a dictionary, where the key is the datetime stamp and value is a list of values for the source/dataset.
